Weekend Highlights

Sometimes I’m really good at taking pictures of anything and everything, and other times I’m not so great. This weekend I wasn’t so great.  I had an absolutely marvelous weekend, but the only pictures I have are ones my sister took.  Which, if you know my professional photographer sister, you know itz most definitely not a bad thing. And, frankly, itz sometimes nice to take a step back and not “have” to capture every little moment on camera. That’s not usually how I feel because I genuinely like taking photographs of every little thing, and I most definitely don’t feel like I “have” to. Anyway, here’s some weekend highlights in words with a couple pictures scattered in:

Friday night: Jonny and I went out to Bristol to celebrate his ten years. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and were gifted a massive piece of their carrot cake. We took it home, and after our food digested, we dug right in. Then I finished it on Sunday morning for breakfast.

Saturday morning: Swim boot camp class! The instructor had the class wearing t-shirts for extra resistance. I kindly declined saying I had enough resistance on my own.

Saturday brunch: Jonny’s brother, Robbie, was in town this weekend, so we went out to brunch with Jonny’s grandparents which was a definite delight.

Saturday day: Stephanie invited me to her studio to take some maternity shots. I’m saving those for itz own post, but you can get a sneak peek if you head to her Facebook page. I did show up in my new Reebok Skyscapes (received as part of a FitFluential campaign), so I had her snap a photo of me just using my iPhone. Full review coming later, but I’m totally digging the look the shoes give to any outfit.

Saturday night: We headed to my in-laws for a tasty barbecue dinner. They recently opened their pool which is always nice to see because it means warmer temps MUST be coming. They open it the earliest and close it the latest of anyone I know. Itz awesome!

Sunday morning: I took a walk in our neighborhood with my best friend Diana. It was chilly as it was still in the 30’s, but later the temperature reached 60! Wahoo!

Sunday noon time: There was a bridal shower for my soon-to-be cousin. My mom and my mother-in-law were two of the eight hosts. Everything about the shower was wonderful. Stephanie, Mom, & Me:

I’m so fortunate to have such amazing, strong, supportive role models in my life. My sister and my mom are just amazing. They both are two of the most selfless people I know, especially when it comes to me. They would do and they do do absolutely anything for me, and I really hope they know how much I appreciate them. I can’t say it enough.

I’m linking up to Healthy Diva’s Marvelous in my Monday.

If you have a sister, then you understand the bond that Stephanie and I share. Throughout this entire pregnancy, I have asked her no less than 500 million questions. Per week. Seriously. I even got her opinion on which wubbanubs to register for. (Her answer: the elephant and the giraffe.) No matter where we are or what we’re doing, we’re always laughing. On the car ride back to her house, we were discussing some details of Baby Itz’s birth (what to pack in my hospital bag, how close she’s getting with her camera…), and she asked me if I was going to be grumpy during my labor. All I could do was laugh. When she realized how it sounded, we were both literally cracking up. “Well, you know, sometimes you get moody when you get stressed out.” Nothing but love, sister!

Sunday afternoon: I went to Stephanie’s house and hung out with her kiddos outdoors. Jacob, Phil, and I played baseball (with a plastic bat and wiffle balls – so much fun!) while Audrey and Stephanie sat on chairs and watched. Eventually, the kids got on their bikes and we went on a walk to enjoy the sunshine that had finally appeared.

Sunday night: We went to dinner at Jonny’s aunt’s house as his cousins were in town.  Dinner was delicious, but the highlight was definitely the four flavors of gelato for dessert. Everyone had a little scoop of each.  It was fantastic, and Baby Itz loved it, too!

  1. What a fun, family-filled weekend! I’m the oldest of 5, and while I love all my siblings and have a special relationship with each one, I think you’re right…the sister bond is just something extra special. Y’all are one beautiful family!

  2. Family filled weekends are the best. I absolutely love them and never take them for granted. It sounds like you really made the most of your weekend! I wish it was even remotely warm for pools to be open (or that i had one! haha). We are hitting 70 tomorrow, though! I can’t wait to get a run in after work in that weather. I almost don’t even know what that feels like!

  3. You are such a cute pregnant lady! I honestly miss being pregnant, I loved it. I love having my little guy here more, but pregnancy was such an amazing time. It’s great how your sister is a photographer and can capture good quality photos of you! Better than my iphone selfies! 😉

  4. btw, have you thought about purchasing a Mamaroo?! We did, it was quite expensive but totally worth it. My husband and I keep saying over and over again that every parent should own one. SO worth every penny!!

  5. You are just stunning!
My weekend highlight was cleaning out the bathroom cabinets & drawers. Sounds boring, but I cleaned out so much junk that I have more room now!

  6. You look so amazing!!! Your smile in the white lace top is so pretty. And yes – I totally understand the bond of sisters. Even though my sisters and I don’t talk every day (or sometimes even every week), we can still ask lots of questions, and definitely know each other well!

  7. Gorgeous photo; shoes and all!
I have two sisters and treasure the times we were all pregnant/nursing/parenting toddlers and talked to each other daily for support and reassurance!
    Sisters are the best!

  8. I adore your maternity pic! You look so happy and genuinely yourself in such an cute outfit! I cannot wait to see the pics from the shoot.
Everyone around me is pregnant and I was lucky enough to meet one of the new babies yesterday! So precious! You are quite lucky to have a sister to answer all those questions, I can imagine how nerve racking it may be! Happy Monday!

  9. So beautiful! And I have 3 sisters, so I totally understand the bond between sisters 🙂 They’re the best! Except when you’re growing up in your awkward teenage years sharing a bathroom…ha!
