I made it! I’m in San Francisco to run the Nike Women’s Half Marathon tomorrow morning! I had a two hour layover in Phoenix, and I actually thought I’d see my little brother, Justin, there. He recently moved to Arizona, and earlier this week I told him about my layover; he is traveling a lot, as well, and he told me it would work out to meet me at the airport. Awesome!
However, on Thursday evening he called me saying he thought I’d be landing in a couple hours. Apparently, I had originally told me I’d be flying on Thursday instead of Friday. Major #FAIL on my part. When Justin thought he’d be meeting me at the airport, he made the best sign ever:
Isn’t this the best sign ever?? I LOVE the pictures Justin pulled, how he put FitFluential on there, and even included some of the Nike Women’s Half Marathon logos. Then, to top it all off, he wrote me the cutest note wishing me luck and got me a gift card to eat in San Francisco! Justin is seriously the most thoughtful person of all time and this is the cutest gesture on his part. I know how much time it must have taken, and it really means a lot to me. Boy, I love you so much and am so sorry I screwed up my dates!! And now I don’t even get to see you or have the poster!!
At least I have a picture and will pretend he is there at the race cheering me on! I am staying with one of my best friends here. Caitlin lives in San Francisco and her apartment is just a few blocks from the starting line which will be so convenient early tomorrow morning. We woke up early today and headed to the expo.
The expo was pretty awesome. I picked up my race number and my INSPIRE shirt that I’ll be wearing to represent Team Yurbuds. Outside of the Niketown store are windows filled with all of the race participants’ names. It was fun finding mine!
Do you see me? After the expo, Caitlin and I walked over to the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market along the Embarcadaro. There was an amazing selection of organic fruits and vegetables, as well as fresh fish, a variety of cheeses, and many other tasty eats that all you foodie peeps would love! Caitlin bought some multi-colored carrots.
We ended up grabbing breakfast in the farmer’s market. It was delish. We’re off to do some more exploring of this awesome city. I know I should probably get off my feet since I’m running the half tomorrow, but there’s just too much to do and too much to see!
Tonight we’re headed to diner with some other FitFluential Ambassadors. Then, itz an early bed time, an early wake up time, and then RACE time!!!
Have you ever been to San Francisco? Are you running any races this weekend?
