Itz no secret around here that I love my morning workouts. Sure, sometimes getting out of bed is difficult, but in the end itz always worth it.
Yesterday morning I woke up, and got dressed to run. My body was feeling a bit sore from Saturday’s 9-miler and Sunday’s bootcamp, but I needed to get some miles in. I was really not feeling the run, it was chilly out, and I was tired. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I went out, ran a mile, and then decided I would do a longer run after school. For what seemed like once in forever, I had no plans directly after school, so this was actually a possibility.
As the day went on, the fact that I was going to run after school stayed in the back of my mind. I knew I didn’t “have” to, especially since I had already run a mile in the morning (to continue my streak!), but I knew I should and I knew I’d be happy after. I packed a bag of running clothes to change into at school, so I really had no excuses. I drove to the park, got myself set to go, and took a second to appreciate the view.
It wasn’t the easiest, fastest, or prettiest four miles, but I got it done and enjoyed the beautiful lake, sunset, and perfect 75-degree weather in the process.
When I finished, I took a few minutes to live in the moment, stretch, and take in my surroundings. I was relaxed. I was happy. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
A true j’adore la vie moment, for sure.
Do you prefer morning, afternoon, or evening workouts?

what a beautiful view to run! I am definitely a morning workout person. If I keep pushing it off and pushing it off it hangs over my head and stresses me out. If I wake up and get it over with the rest of my day feels so much better and I won’t just not do it! I definitely have days like you did all the time!

I definitely felt it hanging over my head all day! I like knocking it out in the morning, too!
I’m always morning. And if it doesn’t git done then its a rest day
Natural rest days – love it!
What a gorgeous picture! I am totally a morning exerciser! I rarely workout at night and if I do I have to force myself to go but you are right, once I’m there I never regret it!
My thoughts exactly!
With views like that, I don’t see how it’s possible to not motivate yourself to sneak in a run! Great job getting it done girl, and not just throwing in the towel
Thanks, Jessie! I was glad once I saw the view, too!
So beautiful! I love those kinds of runs! I am definitely a morning workout person. Gets me ready for my day, and then I can come home after work and relax with some wine
Haha I think morning workouts prepare me for the day, too!
Oh that really is a gorgeous view, and it’s so awesome that you actually took the time to appreciate it instead of just passing by and barely giving it a second thought. I like to get my exercise in either in the morning or the evening. I tend to go through an energy slump in the afternoon and find it hard to motivate myself to do anything.
Sometimes itz important to stop and appreciate the small (and beautiful!) things in life! I go-go-go all day and at the end of the day I prefer to just relax!
way to go! I know sometimes it is tough but I always have that runner’s high after that makes it all worth it!
Yup, for sure!
What a pretty view! I’m definitely more of a morning person during the week, just cause I hate the though of working out after work since I’m usually so tired haha
Me too! I like getting it done!
I’m all about the morning workouts! I had early class yesterday, so I went to the gym in the afternoon. It was just not nearly as fun – loud and quiet. I much prefer getting it done first thing in the morning because the gym is nearly empty and because then I don’t have to think about it for the rest of the day.
I think itz a fine line at the gym between being totally dead and quite and overcrowded and super busy… I like when people are there because I find it to be motivating, but if it means people are in my way and I have to wait then that’s annoying!
It’s nice to mix it up sometimes, eh? Pretty pic at the end!
True that!
Beautiful pics lady!! Congrats on getting after it, no matter what! WAY to do it.
I too am a morning exerciser–but teaching BP in the afternoon/evening is great too. It’s not as bad as I once thought. Haha.
I think being with others is always motivating!
What a beautiful afternoon for a run! I’m totally a morning person. I talk myself out of it if I don’t do it right away.
That’s why I brought my clothes to school with me – no excuses!
Oh wow – that’s a peaceful setting for a run. I prefer mornings, so it’s not hanging over my head all day, but I am not the morning person I pretend to be. If I had no job or commitments, it would probably be mid-day runs for me (when it’s not hot).
I’m definitely a morning person… I find it hard to stay away after 10 pm haha
Linz, I love you so much it hurts!!! That sun looks absolutely gorgeous and your j’adore la vie moment made my heart so happy for you.
Well thanks to you I am learning to stop and appreciate those small, peaceful moments in life! So important!
Great pics
I love morning runs and afternoon/evening workouts!
I’m way more of just a morning type person! If I’m meeting someone in the afternoon or evening itz a lot better!
I love morning workouts the best… It always feels so good to get it done right away and it helps energize me. I always feel good after pretty much any workout though! Great job on your run!
Totally agree! I love the tone it sets for the day! Thanks!
That looks so gorgeous! I always have the best runs when I’m by the lake/water.
I’m more of a morning workout person for sure though. My energy levels are on a continuous decline throughout the day, so by the evening I’m always totally spent and I doubt I would have the motivation to workout!
There is just something about running by water that makes a run so much more serene!! I like to relax after working all day, so I’m glad I actually made it to the park!
I love having those moments of just inner peace and happiness. Sometimes its just a short moment, but its beautiful nonetheless. Beautiful pictures.
I’m definitely more of a morning worker-outer, but I occasionally mix it up.
I hear ya – sometimes you really have to make yourself have and appreciate those moments!
I have done all three and enjoy each for different reasons.
Mornings (60% of my runs): They really let you feel “accomplished” first thing in the morning and gives you the whole day to be productive and focus on other things.
Midday (37%): I find my best runs happen here. I have some energy from the morning and am not still waking up as I get my first few miles in.
Evening (3% if not less): These are fun. It allows you to decompress from the entire day and just run out any stress you may have accumulated.
All three are winners in my book.
I like how you broke it down! And I agree – no matter the time of day, distance, or speed, any run constitutes a run! I think my best runs are in the morning though.
What a pretty setting for a run!! I love morning workouts. I like to get it done early. Plus, it energizes the rest of my day!
Me too! Plus it sets the tone for having a great day!
