Instagram Weekend

I’ve been quite active on Instagram lately, so I decided to make an Instagram Weekend post.  If you’re not already following me on Instagram, please do so at ItzLinz.

Jonny and I went to a family dinner on Friday evening, and when our bellies were oh so full we called it a night and headed home.  Jonny stayed up to watch football (the season is upon us!), and I hit the sack at 10:00 pm.  It was glorious.

Notice my Five Bamboo t-shirt I’m sporting from the Healthy Living Summit?  Itz seriously the softest tee ever, and part of the stellar swag we received.  After going to bed at ten, I was surprised to wake up at 7:30!  That is super late for me, especially for going to bed so early.  I had no complaints though as my body must have needed it.  I woke up with plans to do a long run.  Long runs mean I have to be fueled properly, so I threw together my typical pre-run breakie:

Oats, cinnamon, cacao powder, massive dollop of almond butter, and a drizzle of honey from my FPP box.  After eating, reading blogs, and digesting, I was ready to run.  My intention was to cover 7 – 8 miles, but the skies had other plans.  About a mile out, it started to drizzle and I didn’t want to get caught miles away in a torrential downpour (which the forecast called for), so I called it quits and headed home.  A measly two-mile run is not what I had on the agenda, and I was not happy about the weather.

Thumbs down for rain.  I decided to head downtown to St. Louis’s best farmer’s market and stock up on produce as it has been awhile since I’ve gone.  Mission accomplished.  I didn’t take a picture, but I’ll list the sweet deals I scored: 10 plums ($1), 2 pounds of strawberries ($1 each), 4 onions ($1), 2 cucumbers ($1), 4 zucchini ($2), 6 squash ($2), 5 green peppers ($1), 1 red, yellow, orange pepper ($1), 7 lemons ($1), 5 limes ($1), and a package of shredded, unsweetened coconut ($2).  Not bad for fifteen bucks!  On the way back, the skies looked ominous.

It rained, but didn’t storm as bad as it looked.  By the time I made it to Whole Foods, the rain had let up a little and the clouds began to clear.  Whole Foods is running an awesome Labor Day sale.  I’m not sure if it is all Whole Foods, or just my location, but I took advantage.  Itz their “Feed 8 for $20″ sale.  You get 8 buns, 8 hamburgers, a large side (I chose cole slaw), and a pie – all for $20.  Not bad, if you ask me!  Jonny grilled the hamburgers (in the rain), while I threw together a salad with all our fresh produce.

It made quite the tasty lunch!  We’re not usually bun people, but since it came with the package we ate them.  I chose whole wheat (obviously) and each bun contained 7 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber (nice stats!).  We are saving the cole slaw and pie to take to a gathering tonight.  And now we have tons of leftover salad, burgers, and buns, so it really was a win-win situation!

Since today is September 1st, it kicks off a new month of photo-a-day challenges on Instagram.  I’ve never participated in one, but after putting out a call on Twitter to find a fun one, I discovered Lululemon’s What The Focus 30-Day Photo Challenge.

Use the hashtag #WTFSEPT if you want to take part.  For now, I’m off to relax with my hubby and pup – both who are on the couch dressed in their Miami gear.

An outfit change for both will be in order later for Mizzou’s first game.  M-I-Z!

Are you on Instagram?  What’s your username?  Will you take part in a photo-a-day challenge this month?  Weekend plans?

  1. What farmers market did you go to? Soulard? It’s a bit of a trek for me to get out there but I have been wanting to go, especially since I started juicing

    • Soulard, yes! It is about 20 minutes from me, so I try and go every couple of weeks. The deals there are just unbelievable and the whole atmosphere is fun! We should go together!! We could meet at my house which would prob be about halfway for you…!!

  2. I love that HLS shirt too! I just want to wear it all the time! <3

And umm I'm super jealous of your farmers market's prices! A lb of strawberries for only $1?! They're like $4 here!

I hope you have fun tonight! I'm not really doing anything for labour day because I'm moving back to school tomorrow so I've just been doing a ton of packing. :P

    • Our weekend is super low key too! We were supposed to go to Mizzou for the game, but the weather kept us here which I am totally fine with. And the farmer’s market prices are riiiiidiculous. I seriously don’t buy some items at the grocery store because of the comparison!

  3. you are adorable!! that is a steal at WF for feed 8 for $20.. YUM those burgers look good!

I love instagram, I need to use it more often. my name is @evakempf. I would so take part in a photo a day challenge.

Weekend plans: MOVING IN WITH MY BOYFRIEND.. our FIRST place together. Can’t believe I deserve this guy! hehe.

  4. Farmers markets make life better!! End of story. :)
I really hate it when weather gets in the way of a good run!! I’m all for running in a nice drizzle, or even light shower, but downpours causing saturated clothes, shoes, and socks? Count me out! It was smart of you to head home!

    • Farmers Markets really are wonderful! I don’t mind running in the rain for a race or with a friend, but by myself is just not fun. And by “dont mind” I mean that I will, but I don’t like it!!

  5. I wish I could have went to the market with you! Oh my gosh! I love the Farmer’s Market! LOVE IT! I had no idea about the Lulu photo challenge!? HOW FUN! I’m going the one Charissa made from Colourful Palette :)

  6. Oh sweetie, I SO wish I could have gone to the Farmer’s Market with you! I LOVE THE MARKET! I am so excited to get back to London and eat my little heart out on fresh produce!!!!!

I’m so excited about your photo challenge! I had no idea Lulu did one!? I’m participating in the one created by Charissa from Colourful Palette!

    LOVE YOU HUNNIE!

  7. I’ve been sleeping in my HLS Five Bamboo t-shirt ever since returning from Boston! It’s by far the comfiest pajama shirt ever. :)

You scored some fantastic deals at the farmer’s market! I love shopping at the Dupont Circle market (just outside my door!) each Sunday, however I have to be pretty choosy about what I buy because the prices are actually quite a bit higher than they are at the grocery store! I still like to support the local businesses though, so I usually pick one or two items that look particularly fresh and irresistible. :)

I’m so happy football season has begun! Saturdays are always the most fun in the fall!

    • There are some markets here where the prices are higher – that’s why I love this one particular farmers market… they have the best selection… itz HUGE… and the prices are unbelievable!!
