I have the BEST.SMOOTHIE.EVER. to share with you. (You’re welcome in advance.) Seriously, I have made this every day for the past three days and may continue this trend for who knows how long. Itz amazing, has numerous health benefits, and tastes un-be-freakin-lievable! I just threw together a few ingredients…
Ok so it looks like a lot, but itz really not difficult. Here’s the breakdown:
Cacao Cherry Power Protein Smoothie
- 1 scoop Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Vanilla Protein Powder
- 1 cup Very Cherry Berry Blend from Trader Joe’s
- 1 tsp Maca (ordered from iHerb - use coupon code VAJ523)
- 1/2 cup Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk
- 1 tbsp Navitas Naturals Cacao Powder
- 1/2 bottle Cheribundi Cacao Cherry Juice Drink (received in #HLS12 swag)
- handful fresh, organic spinach
- few ice cubes
See? Not complicated. It may look like a lot of ingredients, but think of all the benefits the smoothie delivers! I won’t discuss the obvious, so let’s talk cherries and cacao.
Cherries
- “Cherries contain a substance known as anthocyanins. This substance is effective in relieving pain by blocking out the inflammatory enzymes that cause it. According to the California Cherry Advisory Board, eating 20 cherries is 10 times more effective that taking aspirin. Anthocyanins also work to relieve the pain associated with arthritis and gout. Cherries also contain boron, which helps increase bone health when consumed in conjunction with magnesium and calcium.” (source)
Cacao
- “Reduces Appetite and Helps in Weight Loss
Helps with Cardiovascular Health
Reduces the Risk of Stroke and Risk of Heart Attacks
Helps to Protect from Environmental and Metabolic Toxins
Acts as an Anti-Depressant and Balances the Mood
Helps to Reduce PMS Systems and Regulate it
Helps to Increase Focus and Alertness
Builds Strong Nails and Hair
Detoxifies the Liver
Balances Blood Sugar
Facilitates Anti-Aging and Rejuvenation” (source)
I’ve written before how awesome this raw cacao powder is. Cherries are chalk-full of antioxidants, so the benefits of this smoothie really are innumerable. Plus, it contains protein which keeps you full. This smoothie has served as my post-workout breakfast, my mid-morning snack, and late night dessert. I’d highly recommend you try it.
Itz all the better when enjoyed out of a fancy glass. And I was able to refill the glass three times. The more the merrier! Go make it now.
Are you a cherry fan? When will you make this? (Breakfast, snack, dessert)

I love everything about this smoothie! I just bought cacao powder and wasn’t quite sure what to make with it! Now I know for sure!
You’ve got to add it to a smoothie!!
This whole smoothie sounds amazing!!!!
It is – trust me!!
Ohh interesting! I didn’t love the cheribundi drink on its own, but in a smoothie might add a tasty touch!!
Yeah I didn’t even try it on itz own. It’s really good though.. the sweetness of the drinks combats the bitterness of the cacao perfectly without adding additional sweeteners!
I keep seeing this cacao product, I may need to give it a try…
