Walkin’ & Talkin’

What did YOU do last night?  What did I do last night, you ask?  Oh, let me tell you.  Well, first I made a pizza using Trader Joe’s whole wheat pizza dough and topped it with organic no-salt added marinara sauce, sautéed onions and peppers, tofurkey sausage (you’d never know!), and a dash of parmesan cheese.  It was delish.

After dinner, I knew I didn’t want to sit on my rump all evening in front of the telly.  (Kidding – I really don’t call it a “telly.”)  So what’d I do?  I laced up these bad boys…

Grabbed my phone (though let’s be real, itz always nearby!)…

And started walkin’ and talkin’!  There were a couple of my girl friends that I wanted to catch up with, and what better way to do it than walking through my neighborhood during a lovely evening!  The temperature read 90 degrees though compared to our 100+ degree days here recently, it really didn’t feel like it.  Pretty soon, I looked down and saw:

The hour and 3.4 miles flew by as I was busy gabbing!  Walking and talking through my neighborhood is actually a very frequent occurrence for me.  I love talking on the phone, and I love moving, so it works outs well.  Plus, we can all probably afford to move a little more.  ;)

Guzzling water, I sat down to participate in FitFluential’s twitter chat about CrossFit.  I’m hoping to try a CrossFit class very, very soon.  During the chat, I snacked on Chelsea’s Lightened Up Honey Almond Coconut Granola that I made earlier in the evening.

It was the perfect evening snack, and would be delicious as a cereal.  Jonny approved, too, though he pretty much approves of all food. :)   I recommend the recipe.

What do you do to move more?  Are you a walker and a talker?

  1. I am a total walker and talker. It’s amazing how far you can go when you’re having a good conversation :) Sadly on these crutches I’m left sitting and talking and it is certainly less fun haha.

  2. I like to take walking breaks around my office campus. It helps me to stretch my legs, destress, and go back to work refocused. I had not thought of taking walks in the evening and using that time to talk to friends/family on the phone. I might have to try it soon.

  3. Great Post – I prefer to walk and talk later on – helps me control my breathing better if I do not talk while exercising. Getting outdoors and nature motivate me to move:) Here’s to moving and shaking – Have a Great Day!

    • Walking is the only exercise that I’d think of gabbing away during! Being outdoors with nature and moving is always motivating – I agree!

  4. I’m hoping to try crossfit soon too! I’m moving in a month and I contacted all the crossfit gyms nearby where I’ll be living yesterday inquiring about pricing and all that. The only thing holding me back is the steep price!

  5. I’m probably in the minority here, but I find it difficult to talk on the phone while I’m out walking. I really like taking in my surroundings, and often times will walk without talking (even if I’m walking with my Mom or husband)–I like to take that time to unwind and collect my thoughts.

    • Girl, I definitely have days where I go out unplugged and, too, enjoy the scenery! If I’m going to be gabbin’ on the phone, I may as well be walkin’! :)

  6. Great idea – except I don’t really like to talk on the phone much. :) And texting and talking isn’t the best idea. :) I like the idea of a walk with someone though!

  7. Thanks for the shout out girl! :D

And I love walking & talking too. I remember in high school my best friend and I used to do it all the time in the summer – we would walk for HOURS at a time! She lives like 2000 km away now though so we don’t get to do it anymore. :( I should call her up sometime and do what you did though. That’s a great idea!

    • My best friend and I used to walk around late at night for hours also!! Phone chats definitely have to suffice now since we all live so far away. :)
