Chobani For The Win

Week 1 of Best Body Bootcamp is officially over!  For the Bootcamp, you are encouraged to get in at least 5 days of activity and at least 5 days of each of the two goals you set.  I did very well on both aspects this past week. 🙂  I actually got in 7 days of activity.  Usually I take a rest day during the week, but this past week I got up early each and every day!  The LiveFit program that I am following incorporates 6 days of weight lifting during Phase 2, so I’ve been good about sticking to that.  This week I did not take my seventh day off because I didn’t get in as much cardio as was suggested with the plan, so yesterday I did a simple 30 minutes on the stairmill.

My water drinking goal went very well.  It allowed me to consciously think about consuming more water during the day than I had been.  I am going to keep that goal the same for Week 2.  My stretching goal was fine.  I did it, but didn’t love it.  I want to continue to stretch on a daily basis; I know it is important and good for my body, especially with all the strength training I am doing.  However, I had been looking up 5 and 10 minute yoga videos to help me for some at home stretching, and I never found anything I loved.  So if you can suggest some, I would be most appreciative. 

My second goal for Week 2 is going to be to plate and sit for my snacks.  Recently I have been a snack monster, which is fine, but I have been standing and munching mindlessly instead of putting whatever I am eating on a plate and actually focusing on and enjoying my snack.  My snacks shall continue, just a little more civilized!  🙂  Speaking of snacks, let’s talk about greek yogurt.

Greek yogurt is amazing.  What’s even more amazing is when a case of twelve cups of greek yogurt arrive on your doorstep.  The most amazing thing of all is when those twelve cups of greek yogurt are from Chobani.

My package contained non-fat and low-fat containers in a variety of flavors.  The non-fat cups were: Vanilla, Blood Orange, Strawberry, Apple Cinnamon, Blueberry, Plain, Lemon, and Black Cherry, while the low-fat flavors were: Pineapple, Strawberry Banana, Passion Fruit, and Mango.  I can honestly say that each and every cup I consumed was absolutely delicious and packed with protein!  The non-fat flavors were just as creamy as the low-fat.  Don’t ask me to choose my favorite because I can’t and I won’t, but I did discover some stellar ways to eat the Cho.  First up: Strawberry.

I mixed the Strawberry greek yogurt with some bran cereal and frozen strawberries (defrosted and warmed in the microwave).  Yum!  Win #1.  Another mix-in that I have totally been loving is barley.  Yes, barley.

I mixed the Passion Fruit with barley.  Barley is a whole grain with a chewy texture.  It pairs nicely with Passion Fruit because that flavor has seeds in it, so you get a chewy, creamy, crunchy, sweet consistency.  I loved the Passion Fruit because it was unlike any flavor I had ever had before.  In a good way.  A very, very good way.  Win #2.  Another combination I made with several textures involved Apple Cinnamon.

I chose Apple Cinnamon after a morning workout, so I wanted to bulk up the greek yogurt a bit for my breakfast.  All I did was add the foods that Chobani already had in the cup.  And some barley.  Again.  I chopped up an apple, mixed it in with the barley, and sprinkled some cinnamon on top.  Sweet, crunchy, chewy, filling, and a perfect post-workout nosh.  Win #3.  I’ve professed my love for eggs before, but did you know that Chobani is a tasty egg-topper?  Of course you did.

3-eggwhite omelette topped with Plain greek yogurt and a few squirts of srichacha.  The plain flavor of the greek yogurt cooled down the spiciness of the srichacha sauce.  Plus, it packed an extra dose of protein.  Win #4.  The next combination I’d like to call Paradise.

Jonny and I consume a lot of smoothies.  So when Jonny remarks, “This might be the best smoothie you have ever made,” you know it’s good.  Real good.  In the mix: Mango greek yogurt, ice, frozen pineapple, vanilla almond milk, vanilla whey protein, and unsweetened coconut flakes.  Seriously, this really was the best smoothie ever!  The flavors complimented each other so incredibly well.  Not only did it taste good and was thick and creamy, but the tropical fruits were very refreshing.  It was just downright delicious and we both slurped them down in no time flat.  Mega-win #5.  While all of my combinations have been winning, Chobani holds its own just by itself.  No toppings, no mix-ins, no combos.

Just straight off the spoon!  I love adding to greek yogurt, but rest assured I tasted each flavor before adding anything else to it.  Each and every flavor was delicious on its own and many of the flavors I did eat by itself.  (Hello, Blood Orange!)  All in all, Chobani makes the best greek yogurt out there.  (I have tasted plenty!)  I am grateful for Chobani sending me that wonderful package and I know what I will be stocking my fridge with from here on out.  And you probably should, too.  Thanks, Chobani!
